The City of San José Information Technology Department strives for excellence in providing outstanding governance and operation practices in everything IT. IT encompasses hardware, software and applications as well as cloud services, development tools, databases and apps for mobile devices. The Information Technology Department is committed to serving city staff as well as the residents and visitors of San José. As a government agency we all are faced with many challenges yet are being recognized for the outstanding efforts and innovative solutions that improve services, processes, products and elevate productivity.

2023 What Works Cities Gold Certificate
- Awarded the Bloomberg Philanthropies What Works Cities Certification at the Gold level for establishing exceptional data capabilities to inform policy decisions, allocate funding, improve services, evaluate program effectiveness, and engage residents.
- The Center for Digital Government (CDG) announced winners of the 23rd annual Digital Cities Survey, recognizing cities utilizing technology to strengthen cybersecurity, enhance transparency, digital privacy rights, and digital equity, and those finding innovative ways to support solutions for social challenges facing cities today. City of San José has been ranked 2nd place in the 500,000 or more Population Category.
