Our city is a vibrant community boasting a diverse population as well as a beautiful natural landscape. Just a few decades ago, we were a farming community known for our miles of orchards, the “Valley of Hearts Delight.” Today, San José is the Capital of Silicon Valley, an international leader in the bioscience industry, and at the national forefront of green technology movement.

The City of San José operates under the council-manager form of government, a system that combines the policy leadership of elected officials in the form of a city council, with the managerial expertise of an appointed city manager. As the chief executive officer for the City, the city manager manages the day-to-day delivery of services to the community, advises the City Council in its public policy decision making, and implements their policies. Collectively, we are committed to providing accessible, equitable, and quality services, facilities, and opportunities to the City's diverse residents, businesses, and visitors. We consistently seek our communities input and involvement and our priorities and goals are based on their feedback. Together, we are working to keep San José growing and thriving.
