Proposed Zoning and Sign Code Updates, Community Meeting, Project #'s PP19-085, PP19-084 & PP19-047

Meeting Purpose:
The proposed Zoning Code (Title 20) considerations may include the following:
File No. PP19-085: A quarterly update of the City of San José Zoning Ordinance amending Section 20.70.100: Removing redundant language from corner lot side setback fence regulation; Section 20.80.1440 (Eliminating parking requirements for medical or dental clinic/out-patient facilities downtown); Section 20.80.1440 (Allow outdoor private property special events on all types of lawful non-residential property in residential zoning districts); Section 20.80.1450 (Add a 50-foot setback requirement to the nearest residential building for outdoor private property special events in residential zoning districts); Section 20.80.1460 (Reduce the setback from outdoor private property special events to the nearest residential building to 50 feet in commercially zoned land if certain restrictions are met); Section 20.80.1460 and 20.80.1470 (Increase the frequency an event permit may be issued for outdoor private property special events in commercial and industrial districts). File No. PP19-084: A proposed ordinance of the City of San José amending permit requirements for drinking establishments and off-sale of alcoholic beverages in conjunction with a winery, brewery, or distillery for Commercial, Industrial, and Downtown Zoning Districts in Tables 20-90, 20-110 and 20-140; amending Section 20.80.900 for off-sale of alcohol in conjunction with a winery, brewery, or distillery; adding Part 5.75 Taproom or Tasting room with Off-sale of Alcohol to Chapter 20.80; updating the definition for Drinking Establishment in Chapter 20.200; and other non-substantive or formatting changes. The proposed Sign Code (Title 23) considerations may include the following:
File No. PP19-047: A proposed Sign Ordinance of the City of San José amending
Section 23.04.164, Part 2.5, “Urban Mixed-Use Sign Development Zone to allow skyline signs, 23.04.038 to modify permit provisions for Supergraphic Signs, other non-substantive changes to Chapters 23.02 and 23.04 of the Sign Code, and any future updates to Mixed-Use signage provisions. In addition to this community meeting, the City of San José may schedule additional outreach as needed. The City of San Jose will schedule and notice future public hearings with the Planning Commission and City Council hearing for the above items.
