Meeting ID: 826 7388 4808

Meeting Purpose:  To introduce the State and City requirements for Senate Bill 9 (SB 9), describe the proposed project, and to obtain community input on the SB 9 Objective Design Standards. Comments, concerns, and questions raised at this meeting will become part of the public record and will help inform the project’s design as it moves forward in the review process. There are continued opportunities throughout the approval process to publicly comment on the project.

Project Description: The City of San José is proposing to develop a SB9 Objective Design Standards (ODS) document applicable to SB9 and SB9-type developments within the city. Based on State law provisions, SB9 allows homeowners to split their parcel into two and potentially create up to four homes on most existing lots in R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning Districts. This project also includes an exploration of applying SB9 provisions to R-2 Zoning Districts and certain historic properties, as directed by the San José City Council. This second community meeting will specifically seek your input on the development of potential Objective Design Standards.

Please refer to updates related to the proposed project on this Planning webpage.
