Meeting Purpose:
To discuss the applicant’s proposed project, the City’s project and environmental review processes, to obtain community input, and provide an overview of issues to be discussed in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) analysis to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) relative to the Metro Station Project located at 439-451 South 1st 4th Street. Comments, concerns, and questions raised at this meeting will become part of the public record and will help refine the project as it moves forward in the review process. Public input on the scope of the EIR is encouraged so that the review addresses all relevant environmental issues. The Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the EIR is being circulated for public review and comment on the proposed scope of work until Friday, March 25, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. and is available on the City’s Environmental Review, Active EIRs webpage under the project name and file number (South Fourth Street Project - H17-004) at the following link: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/ActiveEIRs. Verbal comments on the NOP will be accepted at the community meeting and written comments will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022. There are continued opportunities throughout the permit process to publicly comment on the project and EIR as illustrated in the permit process chart below.
Proposed Project:
Site Development Permit to allow the demolition of an existing single-family residence and multi-family apartment totaling approximately 21,791-square feet and the removal of five ordinance-size trees for the construction of a 24-story, 210-unit, multi-family residential building with a 20% parking reduction on an approximately 0.52-gross acre site.
