Project Homekey

Project HomeKey is an opportunity for state, regional, and local entities to develop a broad range of housing types (e.g., hotels, hostels, single-family homes, apartment buildings, adult residential facilities, manufactured housing), and convert commercial properties and buildings to permanent or interim housing.

The City of San José hosted a series of community meetings to share information about the State-funded program and gather feedback from residents. The most recent meeting was held on February 16, 2022, to discuss a HomeKey development in D2 at the intersection of Branham Lane and Monterey Road. Here is a Q&A document for that proposed development.

On October 1, 2021, the City of San José Housing Department and the County of Santa Clara Office of Supportive Housing hosted a community meeting to share their joint strategy for Project HomeKey funding. The slide deck from that presentation is here: 10/1/21 HomeKey Presentation.

Below is a recording of that meeting.

The Project HomeKey site at the Arena Hotel is now moving forward. The City and the developer are now convening a Community Advisory Committee on a regular basis to gather input and feedback from neighbors. The two recordings below are Community Advisory Committee meetings on September 8 and October 13, 2022.
