Meeting Purpose: To describe the proposed project, the environmental review and planning process, and obtain community input on the project and issues to be discussed in the Supplement Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) to the Downtown Strategy 2040 EIR. Public input on the scope of the SEIR is encouraged so that the review addresses all relevant environmental issues. The Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the SEIR is available for review online in the EIR Library of the City of San Jose’s Planning Division web site:  www.sanjoseca.gov/ActiveEIRs.

Project Location:  409 South 2nd Street and 425 South 2nd Street

Proposed Project: Site Development Permit to allow the demolition of two buildings and the removal of two ordinance-sized trees on-site for the construction of a 29-story building consisting of 520 residential units and 7,685 square feet of ground floor commercial space with four levels of underground parking on a 0.75-acre site. The project also includes extended construction hours from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays over the course of construction (approximately 32 to 40 months).
