Meeting Purpose: To discuss the applicant’s proposed project and the City’s project and environmental review processes, to obtain community input, and to provide an overview of issues to be discussed in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) analysis to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) relative to the Planned Development Rezoning for Good Samaritan Hospital located at 2425 Samaritan Drive. The issues discussed at this meeting will be part of the public record and help refine the project as it moves forward through the review process. Public input on the scope of the EIR is encouraged to ensure that all relevant environmental issues are addressed. The Notice of Preparation (NOP) of the EIR is being circulated for public review and comment on the proposed rezoning from Monday, June 5, 2023, to Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., and is available on the Planning Division’s Environmental Review webpage under the project name (Good Samaritan Hospital) and file numbers (PDC22-132 and ER23-041) at the following link: www.sanjoseca.gov/ActiveEIRs. Verbal comments on the NOP will be accepted at the community/scoping meeting and written comments will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. There are continuous opportunities throughout the permit review process for public comment on the project and EIR as illustrated in the process chart below.
Proposed Project: Planned Development Rezoning (File No. PDC22-132) of an approximately 19.96-gross-acre site from the A(PD) Planned Development Zoning District to the CG(PD) Planned Development District, to allow an increase in maximum building floor area from approximately 452,000 square feet to approximately 1,353,500 square feet, an increase in the maximum height to 130 feet, and construction of two six-story parking structures with floor area of approximately 769,300 square feet.
