When applying for a permit and submitting project plans electronically utilizing the new SJePlans platform, make sure you provide or do the the following:

• Provide the Application for the applicable Permit (see appropriate permit section on this page)
• Provide the ePlan Information Form
• Provide the cost estimate (if submitting for a Public or Private Street permit) or Letter of Intent (if submitting for a Revocable Permit)
• Review the Public Works File Naming Convention and have formatted your files for upload in the SJePlans platform.

  For repairs to existing sidewalks or to remove and replace an existing driveway in the same location contact the Department of Transportation (DOT) at (408) 794-1901 or by visiting the DOT Driveway & Sidewalk Repair / Replacement Permit website.

Standard Encroachments:

Note: Projects that propose lane closures (traveled lanes in the Downtown Area) will need a lane closure approval from the Department of Transportation (DOT).  Refer to the Downtown Area Map to see if your project falls within the Downtown boundary.  For on-street parking closures, a Tow-Away Permit is needed from DOT.   These permits/approvals are needed in addition to the Encroachment permit from the Department of Public Works.  Please visit the DOT Permits page for more information on how to apply.
